Maps, paper and the habit of folding
I use a phone for navigation like everyone else, but I still buy the paper sheet for any area I walk more than twice. A screen shows where you are; a folded map shows where you might go instead.

The best walks I have done began with a dotted line I noticed on the edge of a fold, somewhere I would never have zoomed to. Paper invites that kind of drift.
There is also the pleasure of the finished map, soft at the creases, with pencil marks and a coffee ring over the village where the café was. A phone keeps the track; the paper keeps the day.
